Volunteers needed to help deliver our Covid-19 Vaccination Clinics

  • Thursday 17th December 2020

Porter Valley Primary Care Network needs you!

Nethergreen Surgery is one of the six local practices who make up the Porter Valley Primary Care Network (PCN). Porter Valley PCN are setting up a Covid-19 vaccination hub for patients in our locality. We have an opportunity for volunteers from your Patient Group to join Porter Valley PCN in providing support for these significant vaccination events.

The site is Dore Road Surgery, at 137 Dore Rd, Dore, Sheffield S17 3NF. The vaccination hub will be starting in early January and potentially running for several months, depending on take-up of vaccination by patients, availability of vaccines and setup of alternative sites in Sheffield.

The volunteer roles are as follows:-

  • 2 x car park for stop/go on the driveway and organising parking
  • 1 x in the foyer handing out laminated sheets for consent (and cleaning them again)
  • 1 x floating to help out / make tea support where needed (mainly outdoors).

The time slots are Monday to Friday 8.30 – 13.00 and 12.30 – 17.30.

Any help will be gratefully received: If you feel that you could offer regular weekly slots would be fantastic, or adhoc or a shared slot with a friend would also be extremely welcome. Patients expressing an interest should contact Fran Draper via email at SheffieldCCG.PVPCNVolunteers@nhs.net

Further details regarding how to book slots and what will be involved will be provided via email or zoom to those who are interested.

Please note that in line with Covid-19 precautions we wouldn’t like to accept any patients who are shielding, or not physically fit, due to the role involving standing outside in the cold for several hours. Social distancing precautions will be in place to protect against Covid-19 infection, with Personal Protective Equipment provided.

We are also keen to involve several members from the patient groups across the practices in the network, to form a committee to organise the volunteer rota. This would entail contacting different community groups and individuals, taking bookings for slots and ensuring that the rota is covered each day. If you would like to be involved in this please don’t hesitate to contact me via SheffieldCCG.PVPCNVolunteers@nhs.net.

I anticipate committee meetings and discussions will take place via zoom.

Please let me know if you have any queries and I really look forward to hearing from you.

Best Wishes,

Fran Draper

On behalf of Porter Valley Primary Care Network
